JAMB Retains 150 Cut-Off Mark for University Admissions
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the minimum cut-off mark for admission into universities for the 2026/2027 academic session will remain 150.
The decision was made on Tuesday during JAMB’s annual policy meeting in Abuja, where admission guidelines and procedures for universities, polytechnics and colleges of education were discussed.
According to JAMB, the decision followed a vote by vice-chancellors and heads of tertiary institutions present at the meeting.
The institutions also agreed that the minimum admission score for Colleges of Nursing will remain 150, while polytechnics will continue to use 100 as their cut-off mark.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government announced that candidates seeking admission into Colleges of Education will no longer be required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The new policy will take effect in the 2026/2027 academic session.
Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said candidates applying for education courses can now gain admission with at least four credit passes in relevant subjects, without writing UTME.
However, he explained that such candidates must still register with JAMB for proper documentation and admission processing.
