German Referee Daniel Siebert to Take Charge of PSG vs. Arsenal Champions League Final
UEFA has announced that German referee Daniel Siebert will officiate the UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, scheduled for May 30, 2026, at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.
The assignment marks Siebert’s first time taking charge of a UEFA club competition final, despite having spent over ten years as an international referee. The 42-year-old has been active throughout the current Champions League season, overseeing nine matches in total.
Among those fixtures were Arsenal’s quarter-final against Sporting CP, their semi-final against Atlético Madrid, and PSG’s quarter-final tie with Liverpool.
UEFA’s choice of Siebert reflects his steady progress within European refereeing since he became FIFA-listed in 2015. He has also gained major tournament experience, including officiating at UEFA Euro 2020 and UEFA Euro 2024.
Siebert will be assisted by fellow German officials Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) team will be headed by Bastian Dankert, forming a full German officiating setup for the final.
UEFA expects a high-pressure and intense match, with both PSG and Arsenal competing for the prestigious European title. The governing body’s appointment continues its usual practice of assigning referees who have consistently managed top-level matches throughout the seasons.
